For this post I show 6 black & white illustrations of the California condor by artist Ali Pearson.
All of the images below are from The Condor Question: Captive or Forever Free?, edited by David Phillips and Hugh Nash, and published in 1981 by Friends of the Earth. This is on my list of Essential books about the California condor.
This last image spans 2 pages at the beginning of Phillips and Nash’s book:
Ali Pearson’s condor illustrations are distillations. They convey so much about the nature of birds while being plain and simple (which I very much intend as a compliment).
Additional California condor art by Ali Pearson appeared in the Spring 1981 issue of Wildlife Journal and the April 1984 issue of Not Man Apart.
